On Misery

I've been reading Silas Marner by George Eliot. To see a picture of George, click here! (You'll be surprised!)

Here's an interesting quote from Eliot -- er, Evans -- or whoever she is:

It is seldom that the miserable can help regarding their misery as a wrong inflicted by those who are less miserable.

  1. I loved "Silas Marner" when I read it in high school! Part of the fascination was Mary Ann Evans' determination to see her story published. Thanks for the reminder...I'm going to re-read it!
