Mors Et Vita

Into the soil a seed is sown,
Out of the soul a song is wrung,
Out of the shell a pearl is gone,
Out of the cage a bird is flown,

Out of the body, a soul.

Unto a tree the seed is grown,
Wide in the world the song is sung,
The pearl in a necklace gleams more fair,
The bird is flown to a sweeter air.

And death is half and life is half,
And the two make up the whole!

-- James Edwin Campbell

I share this poem in loving memory of my friend, Larry Geise. We conducted his memorial service yesterday.

Larry was the "comeback kid" -- but this time, he didn't come back -- he went -- to a fairer land and is experiencing the other half!

At Larry's request, I gave a gentle invitation for people to open their lives to Christ, and a dozen people responded!

  1. Mark, what a true blessing to read that you had 12 responses. That is shouting news. Praise God for this dear person who wished to win souls for Christ, even after his passing. This story makes my day.
