Nobody, Unlike a Frog

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you -- Nobody -- too?
Then there's a pair of us!
Don't tell! They'd advertise -- you know!

How dreary -- to be -- Somebody!
How public -- Like a Frog --
To tell one's name -- the livelong June --
To an admiring bog.

-- Emily Dickinson (Poem 288)

  1. Mark,

Interesting. Jesus freed us from the need to make ourselves into somebodies. Yet in the church we start maneuvering (like James and John) to position ourselves as somebodies.

    Keep up the good work,

    Rod
