A Kind Word
Ruth Tucker spoke a kind word about Hayward Wesleyan Church, at her River Rat Reflections blog. We really were honored to have her and her husband, John, come and worship with us.
If This Is Not A Place. . .
If this is not a place where tears are understood, Then where shall I go to cry? And if this is not a place where my spirit can take wings, Then where shall I go to fly? I don't need another place for trying to impress you With just how good and virtuous I am. I don't need another place for always being on top of things; Everybody knows that it's a sham. I don't need another place for always wearing smiles, Even when it's not the way I feel. I don't need another place to mouth the same old platitudes; Everybody knows that it's not real. So if this is not a place where my questions can be asked, Then where shall I go to seek? And if this is not a place where my heart cry can be heard, Where, tell me where, shall I go to speak? 'Effectively blended for all ages and for people from different backgrounds'- this is definitely how individuals must deal with the public in today's world.
ReplyDeleteBeing that I have a strong interest in worship, I would love to see how that looks like. I know that is something that we have been working toward at our church. Mark, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, any chance you could bring a few examples of your orders of worship to FLAME? I would love to see what you are doing in worship. Sounds like God is really working in the Northwoods. Keep up the good work and see you in NC!
ReplyDeleteOur order of worship is simple, really -- usually we sing a few songs, and then I preach. That's about it. We throw in something special quite often, just to keep them on their toes.
