Rick Warren is a heretic and he's leading many people astray, with his humanistic teaching and his worldly alliances. Perhaps you should familarize yourself with www.sliceoflaodicea.com
I think we can get so caught up in our own little Christian worlds that we forget that we must rub shoulders with the world to reach the world. We feel really good in our safe and comfortable churches, but there is a lost world that needs Jesus. We must not forget that. Maybe someone who is against church will see these people that they respect in the church and will come and hear the gospel when they may never step foot in the door otherwise.
I've come to realize that for some people - their religion is a political party (whichever that may be). They're more apt to follow the party line than to follow Jesus! In the lab I work in - practically every one has a different political view than me. I try not to bring up political stuff (although it's very hard sometimes), because it can ruin my witness. I actually used to love political confrontations because I was really good at arguing my causes, but I found out that in winning arguments - I was losing opportunities to share the Good News. Another thing I've learned is that although people differ in their political views than me - some are wonderful brothers & sisters in the Lord.
The Lord has really convicted me in this area. I'm sure that's one of the reasons I went to a voting location a few weeks ago holding up the following sign during a driving rainstorm:
Select Jesus Today!
He Promises: -Restoration with God -Peace for your soul -Everlasting Life
If this is not a place where tears are understood, Then where shall I go to cry? And if this is not a place where my spirit can take wings, Then where shall I go to fly? I don't need another place for trying to impress you With just how good and virtuous I am. I don't need another place for always being on top of things; Everybody knows that it's a sham. I don't need another place for always wearing smiles, Even when it's not the way I feel. I don't need another place to mouth the same old platitudes; Everybody knows that it's not real. So if this is not a place where my questions can be asked, Then where shall I go to seek? And if this is not a place where my heart cry can be heard, Where, tell me where, shall I go to speak? So if this is not a place where tears are understood, Where shall I go, where shall I go to fly? -- Ken Medema
Chad Smith, a creative, unconventional pastor from Alabama, is selling himself on e-bay. Bidding is up to $2.25 now -- with $3000 for shipping. This causes deep concern. If this thing works, there will be a FLOOD of churches putting their pastors up for sale.
Obama's not a publican -- he's democrat.
