Nightlife in Hayward

Yesterday, in the field across the street from our house, the kids and I saw a flock of wild turkeys -- four adults and fifteen little poults (I had to look that one up.)

Later, we went to investigate again. There weren't ANY turkeys hanging around -- but there was a coyote licking his chops.

Still later, we heard some strange animal sounds, so went out on safari a third time.

There were no turkeys.
There was no coyote.
There was, however, a strong essence of skunk!

Beats watching t.v. and better than Broadway.

Wow! I thought we had seen nightlife in Hayward but you found some really interesting things! Thanks for the awesome time in Hayward! We arrived home in about 11 and 1/2 hours. Looking forward to seeing you in August at FLAME. Say hi to Wes Luke Hannah and the whole Wilson gang!

  3. Have you ever had Wild Turkey? Its delicious.

When growing up in PA we used to wait until dark than the skunks would come out and ruin our yard while digging for grubs..there isnt much more of a father/son connection than when you quick shine a light on them and before they can arm themselves, blast them with the 20 gauge shotgun you were given for Christmas.

My father and I still talk about the "Summer of 18 Kills"

Yes...better than anything I have ever seen on Television.

  4. The "daylife" here was interesting yesterday! Just about the time I was reading your post, two turkey vultures stopped by our yard to "pay their respects" to the dead groundhog in the field next to us! I took me at least five minutes to convince my husband that I wasn't lying!

  5. Polts - - - wow, I'm impressed!!!

We made several sightings of sandhill cranes, three adult wild turkeys and 10 polts, an indigo bunting, lots of hummingbirds, and several deer in addition to all the fish (bass, pike, walleye) that the "boys" caught while we were up there for two weeks.

We did NOT sight a bear. :-(
