Wesley on Preaching

In the Conference Minutes of 1744, John Wesley was asked, "What is the best method of preaching?"
He responded:
1. To Invite
2. To Convince
3. To Offer Christ
4. To Build Up, and do this (in some measure) in every sermon

    WESLEY PRACTICED WHAT HE PREACHED

  4. I had the opportunity to visit Wesley's Chapel in England. He took preaching so seriously that he had it build actually round, with the sanctuary on the bottom and living quarters upstairs. In the middle upstairs was a little hallway with two windows, one where you could see the pulpit, the other the congregation. When rookie pastors would preach there, Wesley would go back and forth from window to window critiquing the speaker.
