Thanks for the Prayers

Steve, my older brother, told me tonight that he's coming home from the hospital tomorrow! He was really sick -- but has shown a marked improvement.

Steve's a definite believer in prayer power.

When Steve told the doctor of all the prayers being lifted up on his behalf, he said, "God is the only reason why you're still here."

Wonderful! So glad he's improving. We prayed for him at choir practice last night. The power of prayer! Sue B

I am so glad to hear that your borther is better because of the prayers that were said.

However this leaves me somewhat puzzled as to what it means when someone prayed for does not get better.

Does that mean that the prayers for someone who did not get well were not took seriously and that somehow the person doing the praying was at fault for some reason?

Why are we quick to praise the Lord when someone gets better and declare that this healing was somehow cause because of our faith and prayer and our friends prayers.

Are any of us so worthey and closer to God that somehow our prayers have priority over someone else?

Do when then look down on the person who's prayers were not answered, did not get well and then had the gall to question God?

In my case, I will not blame the Chruch for not praying when my wife died because I seriously do not think that it could have helped anyway.

    Walt,
Welcome back my friend! I've missed your comments. It's so good to hear from you again.

As far as your question -- I don't know the answer. Just today, I viisted a good friend who is very ill with cancer. We both had prayed that it would another direction. Now, except for a dramatic miracle, it looks like he won't be here with us.

Still, when I go to the hospital to pray with people -- I almost always pray that the Lord will heal them and ease their pain.

The answer to the prayer is up to God, who loves us more than we will ever know -- and His understanding is greater than ours.
