Spam for Thanksgiving

Delivering a "canned" sermon from the internet is like serving Spam for Thanksgiving.
Not too appetizing -- but I suppose if you can't cook, it beats starvation.

(On a Positive note -- over 1500 pastors recently signed a No Spam Sermons pledge -- I was glad to join 'em!)

  2. One of the blessings I have received as a result of all my travels is the exposure to a lot of different pastors. There are as many styles of preaching as there are preachers. But the one thing that always comes through is sincerity. Whether the sermon is canned or original, if the person delivering it BELIEVES it, if they are passionate about it and if the sermon is coming from the heart, it comes across as REAL. It probably just so happens that the majority of the REAL sermons are original, and not canned Spam sermons. That is one of the things I love about the Hayward Wesleyan church, I have not heard a sermon that didn't come across as being from the heart. They have all been REAL. God Bless you all and thank you all for making such a difference in my life.

  3. I'm not sure it would be an all bad thing to glean IDEAS from other sermons, even internet ones. The KEY thing is to then use those ideas in a way that is uniquely your own.

It's always better to be oneself than to try to be someone else.

Oh - - - we did NOT get any of the predicted snow flurries today, though it was blustery, cloudy, and cold.
