A fascinating Newsweek Article provides an excerpt from Fareed Zakaria's "Post American World."
If This Is Not A Place. . .
If this is not a place where tears are understood, Then where shall I go to cry? And if this is not a place where my spirit can take wings, Then where shall I go to fly? I don't need another place for trying to impress you With just how good and virtuous I am. I don't need another place for always being on top of things; Everybody knows that it's a sham. I didn't read the entire article, but I'm thinking maybe this is a good thing for us...after all, the world doesn't revolve around us, does it?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the loss of some of this political, material, and worldly power is the only way to let the true light of the world be seen.
Yesterday there was a news story about the light bulb that's been burning for a hundred years or so in a fire station in CA. Not a very bright bulb, and it looks rather useless, but it's still there doing what it was designed to do...and being noticed for it.
Christians aren't called to be the most powerful, glamorous, or entertaining people of the earth...just light, and salt.
