Out of Ur reported on a sobering Wall Street Journal article on pastoral unemployment:

Unemployed pastors in 2005: 2000
Unemployed pastors in 2007: 3000
Unemployed pastors in 2009: 5000

    Should we ask why these numbers are increasing at such a rapid rate?

    Up here in Canada, we're projected to have a shortage of clergy over the next decade, as ministers retire, and fewer young people go into pastoral ministry. May I suggest that if you or any pastor you know is having trouble finding work, please look north of the border.
