Back Home

Cathy had her gall bladder removed this morning, and we just arrived home a few minutes ago. She feels like she was run over by a Mack truck -- groggy, and in a lot of pain. I hope she starts feeling better before too long.

She said all her "It's gonna be a piece of cake" friends didn't give her the whole picture. Still, we're on this side of the hill now, and it's just a matter of recovery.

I'm planning on staying home the rest of the week, to take care of her and teach the kids.

Amazingly, the lady in the hospital bed next to Cathy attended a wedding I officiated this past Saturday. She's the bride's sister -- and the newlyweds were in the waiting room. I told her that was not a "coincidence" but rather God's "providence" at work: a postcard from heaven to remind her h0w much she is loved.

  1. Remember I said the SURGERY was a piece of cake (asleep) but the RECOVERY took longer than I expected. I thought it was quite a painful recovery.

    I'm empathizing with you, Cathy.

After suffering through a LONG weekend, my surgeon suggesting using a heating pad on the painful gallbladder removal site - - - - it helped A LOT.
    Might be worth a try?

Oh! Sorry Keetha. I didn't see your previous comment before I posted about the cake -- she had a lot of friends imply that it wasn't going to be any big deal -- but momentarily it sure feels like a deal. I will tell her about your suggestion.

  3. I agree with her. The RECOVERY may be a much bigger deal than she had expected. Within a couple of weeks I was moving around - - - at all outward appearances as if normal - - - - but I had discomfort in the main scar area for months if I "overdid" (whatever that is) at all. I tried to go back to school too soon. If I had it to do all over again, I'd wait at least a week.

    I'm thinking of her.

And I did not think you meant me about the cake comment - - - - I think we both just used the same metaphor.
