Church Metrics

Church Metrics is a new free resource to help churches keep tabs on attendance, giving, salvations and baptisms.

Of course, these statistics, in themselves, do not show the whole picture. For instance, it is difficult to measure the depth of love, the strength of prayer and the heart of missional service.

However, it is wise for church leaders to keep an eye on the measurable "dashboard indicators."

If attendance, giving, salvations and baptisms are all going down, there's probably an issue somewhere that ought to be addressed.

This reminds me of an article I read some time ago. It was a pastor apologizing to the un-churched. It stated there had been a 92% increase in the number of un-churched Americans in the last thirteen years. This apology was because of the years of turmoil within church circles. He felt church leaders need to take accountability and stand up and say sorry for the self righteous indignation that causes the strife.
